



Juana Gustin is Vice President, Strategic Planning for Cross + Associates, a marketing communications agency based in Columbia, SC. After more than 25 years cutting her teeth in Dallas, TX, and Washington, DC, as Marketing and PR Director for Neiman Marcus, Juana brought her finely honed skills to the health care and advertising industry. As Regional Marketing Director for both Aetna and GE she worked with Premier Hospitals throughout the southeast. Most recently, as an advertising agency executive, she has expanded her influence to elevate the marketing of a multitude of southeast hospitals. A graduate of East Carolina University, Juana currently serves as Chairman of the Board of The Columbia Ad Club, Membership Director for the National Association of Women Business Owners and is an active member of the Georgia Hospital Association as well as the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society.

Ashley Carter is a Marketing Specialist for Centra’s mental health services, focusing on Pathways, Centra’s substance abuse treatment program and the adult psychiatric programs. She markets extensively throughout Virginia and the east coast. A graduate of Virginia Tech in 2005 with a B.S. in marketing management, Ashley serves on the board of the Young Professionals of Central Virginia, chairing their Connect (social/event) committee, is a member of the Junior League of Lynchburg, chairing their fundraising committee, serves as a recruitment advisor for her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and holds an active membership in the United Way Young Leaders Society and Suicide Prevention Coalition. Ashley has been a member of VSHMPR since 2007.

Donna Ballou is Director of Public Relations for Prince William Health System. She holds a Masters in Business from Marymount University. Donna is accredited in Public Relations by the Universal Accreditation Board. She has been active in VSHMPR since the 1980’s and served on the board in the 1990’s. Currently, she is the Vice President for membership in the Washington Metropolitan Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations.

Melanie Barber is a Marketing Manager with Valley Health in Winchester, Virginia. She has been in healthcare marketing and public relations for more than 20 years. She spent five years as Director of Development and Marketing at Warner Memorial Hospital, a Valley Health affiliate, before joining health system’s marketing department in 1996. Melanie is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and holds an MS in health administration from VCU/Medical College of Virginia. An active VSHMPR member since 1986, she served on the Board of Directors in the early 1990’s, was Treasurer in 1992 and 1993, President –Elect in 1994, and President in 1995.

Carrie Brooks is a Marketing Manager with Valley health in Winchester, Virginia, which includes Winchester Medical Center, Warren Memorial Hospital, in Front Royal, and Shenandoah memorial Hospital, in Woodstock. Her current focus lies with Winchester medical Center’s Heart Hospital & Vascular Center, where she has dedicated her time to providing marketing and communications support to the programs of this department. Carrie came to Virginia from the Buckeye State, and has been with Valley health for 2 years. She received her B.S./B.A. in Marketing from The Ohio State University in 2003. Carrie has been a member of this society since 2005 and joined the Board of Directors as membership Secretary in 2007.

Peter Glagola is the Director of Corporate Communication and Public Relations for Riverside Health System in Hampton Roads. Peter started his career at Riverside in 1987 as an Audio Visual Specialist with the Riverside School of Professional Nursing. In 1990 he created Media Services, the system wide audio visual branch of Riverside. After running this department for ten years he moved into the public relations branch of Riverside as the Director of Public Relations for Riverside Regional Medical Center. During the past 10 years Peter has created numerous advertising campaign that included award winning TV and Radio ads. He also has been very active in creating positive press relations with all branches of the media. Peter has been a member of VSHMPR since 2001 and served as President in 2007. Peter is a graduate of Virginia Tech.

Sheila Gray serves as Assistant Vice President at the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, and is responsible for communications and media relations. Previously she worked with the government relations staff on legislation and HosPAC. Sheila has been with the association since 1995. Prior to joining VHHA, Sheila worked at the Secret arty of the Commonwealth’s Office serving three consecutive governors. Sheila was graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond with a B.S> in communications.

Sarah Harvey is Marketing Coordinator for Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. Sarah entered the healthcare field when she joined the RMH Marketing Communications staff in 2003. Prior to working at RMG, Sarah was Marketing Director of May Supply Company, a plumbing wholesaler in Harrisonburg. Sarah graduated from Bridgewater College in 2002 with a B.A. in Communications Studies. She has been a member of VSHMPR since 2003, a member of the board since 2005.

Vicki R. Kirby is the Media and Communications Director at Augusta Health, a not-for-profit 255 bed community hospital in Fishersville, Virginia. At AMC, she focuses day to day on media relations, advertisements, hospital publications and strategic marketing planning for AMC. Vicki began her career in healthcare as a nurse in 1983 and currently holds a license to practice as a registered Nurse. Vicki has been in healthcare marketing field for over 20 years. Prior to her 20 years at Augusta Health, she was employed as marketing Coordinator for Valley health Care Venture Home Health Care Program. She has been a member of the society since 1998.

Grey Martin is the Director of Business Development and the Director of Community Based Programs for The Barry Robinson Center, a private, not-for-profit mental health system based in Norfolk, Virginia and dedicated to serving children and adolescents with behavioral health issues. He holds a B.S. in Psychology from Old Dominion University and has worked within the mental health field for twenty-three years. Of Grey’s nineteen years at the Center, the last five have been devoted to oversight of marketing and public relations efforts for BRC, as well as providing leadership to the Center’s Community Based Programs. He has been a member of VSHMPR since 2003.

Kerry Davis Mossler is the Director of Marketing/Community relations at Southside Community Hospital (SCH) in Farmville Virginia. She has a Bachelor of Science from Longwood College and a Coordinate Degree from University of Virginia and Longwood College. She worked for seven years as a marketing and graphic design specialist at Longwood University. Prior to that, she was the owner of an independent graphic design business specializing in the creation of ad campaigns. She has been at Centra Southside Community Hospital for 6 years.
